Top 6 Best AWD Electric Cars

There is great interest today in all-wheel drive vehicles. Traction can mean the difference between driving safely through ice, snow, and slush, or ending up in a ditch. Luckily, there are a number of excellent AWD electric vehicles on the market and this year’s list of our top six best AWD electric vehicles is made up of America’s most popular type of vehicle, the crossover.

From the affordable Kia EV6 and exciting Hyundai Ioniq 5 to the luxurious Jaguar I-Pace, our sexy six tick all the boxes for cool-factor, comfort, range, and reliability. The following clever crossover SUVs are listed by starting MSRP price, from least to most expensive. All fuel economy insights are EPA estimates only. Actual mileage and efficiency may vary.

Hyundai Ioniq 5

The all-new and very stylish Ioniq 5 is a well-equipped five-seater crossover offering the very latest technology. It is available in three trim levels, the most popular of which is the SE AWD that starts at an MSRP of $47,500. It is estimated to deliver 110 MPGe in the city and 87MPGe on the highway. The roomy and comfortable EV boasts a range of 303 miles in the single electric motor version.

Volkswagen ID.4

The ID.4 is a great all-around crossover offering a lot of comfort and range for the money. It is the lowest priced EV on our “best of” list with a starting MSRP of $41,230. This five-seater family mover is available in three trim levels, the most popular being the Pro S AWD starting at an MSRP of $49,370. With a range of 250 miles, the estimated MPGe for the ID.4 is 98 miles in the city and 88 on the highway.

Kia EV6

This sleek and popular crossover is Kia’s first dedicated all-electric vehicle. The EV6 is a five-seater that comes in three trim levels. The Wind AWD variant comes with all-wheel drive and is priced at an MSRP of $51,400. The EPA estimates 116 MPGe in the city and 94 MPGe on the highway. It offers lots of cargo space and the latest technology. Range is 232 to 303 miles depending on battery pack.

Ford Mustang Mach-E

All-wheel drive is available in this awesome five-seater SUV crossover boasting a 303-mile range and, in the GT version, it can take you from zero to 60 mph in an earth-shaking 3.5 seconds. The Mustang Mach-E's MSRP starts at $43,895, not including the $7,500 federal tax credit. It comes in five trim levels and is estimated to deliver 90 MPGe in the city and 77 MPGe on the highway.

Audi e-tron

This luxurious Audi has all-wheel drive, can get up to 402 horsepower, can tow up to 4,000 pounds (when properly equipped) and features five available drive modes, including off-road. The five-seater comes in six trim levels with the popular Premium Plus SUV AWD starting at an MSRP of $75,995. The e-tron delivers 78 MPGe in the city and 77 MPGe on the highway, and a range of 222 miles between charges.

Jaguar I-Pace

With 394 horsepower on tap, the plush Jaguar I-Pace crossover certainly knows how to thrill drivers. In addition to being all-wheel drive, it sports an efficient EPA-estimated electric range of 234 miles. In HSE AWD trim, the I-Pace starts at MSRP of $80,900 and is estimated to deliver 80 MPGe in the city and 72 MPGe on the highway. It is one of the few luxury EV crossovers on the market.
